1. CLIENT Q&A
What were the goals of the campaign, and how did Phil help bring them to life?
This campaign was all about bringing Shimano’s accessory range to life, from gloves and shoe covers, to eyewear and socks. Elevating the category and positioning accessories as essential performance gear rather than optional add-ons.
The ‘Leaves a Lasting Impression’ campaign was built around a simple but pertinent insight: the unmistakable lines cyclists carry after hours in the saddle. From the eyewear mud lines etched onto a rider’s face, to the clean tan lines left by socks and gloves, these marks become badges of dedication, effort and countless miles ridden.
Phil was brought on board to bring our creative vision to life, as we knew he was a great cycling photographer. From location and model scouting to lighting and storyboarding, he managed the full production and worked closely with us throughout. With Phil at the helm, we had a production team we knew would deliver.
2. CLIENT Q&A
Were there any particular images, videos or assets that stood out? Why?
For us, the hero stills stole the show. Phil brought the creative vision to life beautifully, and those images went on to feature within the creative guidelines, artwork templates and across Shimano’s accessory category.
The behind-the-scenes video was also used across socials to capture every element of the shoot, from the chilly early morning on the downs, to replicating mud splashes through makeup trickery.
3. CLIENT Q&A
What was it like working with Phil throughout the project?
I’ve known Phil for a long time, so bringing him onto this project was a no-brainer. I knew working with Phil would feel like working with an extended member of the team. His expertise in the space, his contacts and his eye for detail meant everything ran smoothly from beginning to end.
4. CLIENT Q&A
Can you sum up your experience working with Phil in one sentence?
Phil is the kind of collaborator you call first – talented, reliable and someone who genuinely cares about the work.
